Once you know what students are discussing, you can prepare for your own topic. It might be a little bit time consuming, but in the end it will be worth it. You can always read about the latest topics in magazines and online sources.Now that we know what the common topics for fourth grade are, the next step is to organize the information. It's all about organizing and putting it in a way that makes sense.Pre-Writing: You should start preparing for the topic before it's due. So, I always remind them to write the outline in front of me before they start writing the actual essay.Post-Writing: After pre-writing, the students should have already drafted and edited their essays. In this stage, they should ask me questions about the topic, to improve the quality of the essay.Final Drafting: You should have completed all the work and have reviewed all your homework assignments. All you have to do now is to check your essay for grammar and spelling errors. Of course, you can always rewrite the essay in the next step.
